Kalo Nero is also known for its environmental importance. Each summer, the beach becomes a nesting site for the Caretta Caretta sea turtle. Visitors are encouraged to respect the protected areas and observe the turtles responsibly if they are lucky enough to see them.

Tip: During high season, consider visiting early in the day or around sunset when the beach is quieter and temperatures milder.

Voidokilia Beach in Messinia, Greece, is a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Note:

As it is part of a natural reserve the beach has limited services i.e. chairs and umbrellas. But not to worry we can provide both cooler box and umbrella to take with you. So, stock up on some water and sandwiches before departure. (Ice can be bought usually at a convenience store or petrol station along the way – Messini is on your way with all that you may need). Coffee and drinks services are provided – a young man regularly patrols the beach to take an order.

In August this place can get a bit busy but don’t worry the beach is more than two klms long. The difficulty may be parking and the long walk on the beach to find a nice spot. Follow the map bellow which basically suggests that you continue with your car through the parking area to spots behind the beach. That way the walk will be less tiresome and the car will be relatively close at hand.

Explore the surrounding area and take a hike to the castle on the left hand side of the beach… Enjoy!
